Perched directly on the Mississippi River, this vacation lodge boasts an incredibly beautiful panoramic view of the river and bluffs of Iowa and Wisconsin. Welcome to the Water Street Lodge. Whether you're here to fish off the cabin dock or nearby trout streams, shop and eat, host an event, or just hope to spend time relaxing with family and friends soaking in the scenery, you will create lasting memories at this spectacular property. The Lodge’s main level great room is a stunning space to entertain with a dining area that seats 12+, while the spacious kitchen has everything needed to prepare full gourmet meals. Relax in the 4 person infrared sauna or head outdoors to enjoy the 6 person hot tub. Enjoy a bon fire with a view then head inside to get cozy by the fireplace while catching up with family and friends and settle in for a movie night on the large screen TV. This home has 2 oversized king master suites on the main level both with private full bathrooms and private access to the expansive deck overlooking the river. Upstairs you'll find 2 additional bedrooms with ample sleeping arrangements, each with their own private balcony. Upstairs also boasts a large bonus loft area for gathering, playing games, and watching a good movie or football game as well as another full bathroom.
The Water Street Lodge is within walking distance to wineries, shops, restaurants, and a casino. You can enjoy nature by visiting local attractions like Effigy Mounds, Pike’s Peak, or walk next door for a guided nature boat tour with Maiden Voyage Tours. Launch your own boat next door at the public boat landing to explore Pool 10. No boat, no problem. Inquire about renting a boat with Captain Chartered Boat Rentals that includes a driver and conveniently picks up and drops off right on site.
With 4 bedrooms that sleep up to 12, 3 1/2 baths, and 2,500 square feet of well-appointed living space you'll enjoy a relaxing environment after returning from each day’s adventure. Bring the whole family young and old as the home is handicap accessible with its ramped entry into the house as well as equipped bathrooms.
Please note train tracks run along the river and you will see and hear train activity so please plan accordingly. To be clear you will see and hear boats and barges from the front of the home and trains from the back. Your safety matters so please also note there is not a fence between house and river or house and train tracks.

Amazing

Our 22 year old was killed in an accident in 2021, the grief made my husband the 9th person to be diagnosed with a disease that left him totally disabled. This was our first outing without him and it was hard, but everything was perfect and we had an amazing time with my husband watching the barges go by and my grandson fishing, the casino gave me an outlet I have not had for 3 years. This was part of our healing process with my other two amazing adult children and my grandson and it was totally relaxing with the grief baggage that we carry. Thank you so much for the amazing home from home with all the amenities of home! We appreciate you!

We had a Wonderful Time at your location. Everything was exactly as advertised. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the deck (river front), the tiki hut for coffee & cocktails, the waterside firepit, and the indoors as well (spacious, clean & inviting). It was a great kitchen/living room for eating, drinking, conversation & games - with a wonderful view of the Mississippi out the wall of windows. We also enjoyed the winery (walkable) & Maiden Voyage boat tour, Pike's Peak & Effigy Mounds. Thank You!

Great House

The property met all of our expectations. The host responded to our inquiries immediately & was wonderful to work with. Our only disappointment was that the weather didn't allow for us to use the outside deck & amenities. Our group of 9 ladies made great use of the large island & dining table. Beds were comfortable & the house was very clean. The posting advises about the trains which are literally right behind the house so bring earplugs for sleeping. Our only suggestion is the house could use a 2nd water heater. We learned the hard way on day 1 that we had to limit to 3 showers within a short time. After that we staggered the showers throughout the day. Our group would definitely return to this property!

Enjoy the view

The waterfront view is beautiful. The lodge is large and clean with accurate pictures. Please note, train tracks run directly behind and along the property with frequent trains blowing whistles running day and night. Sometimes the train stopped on the tracks along the property so we were unable to leave until the train moves. There are few things to do in the local community so we drove to other towns. Overall, it was an enjoyable time with our family of adults.

Great meeting place. Beautiful on the river

All of us 80 plus. We found the steps were a challenge. We should have brought earplugs for train noise. We spent hours on the deck enjoying the river and the action on the river. It’s a beautiful area to sightsee also.

Hammitt Family Vacation

The house was big and comfortable. The one upstairs bedroom was warm. We had plenty of space and loved the deck! It will need updating but it was nice and clean! There is a train track right behind the home and the train was SO loud and the whistle was long too! We had an infant with us and it woke her up. Every time the train whistle blew it made her shake! We had a wonderful time, anyway!

Great location!

We stayed here for a family reunion. It fit our immediate family of 14 perfectly and a nice crowd of more family one evening. Great fun for kids to watch trains, boats, barges, and speed boats. Loved our stay!

Place was as described...had great views of the river and all traffic on it. The A/C was not working when we arrived and after a few back and forth texts was able to have them send someone over to discover the blower on the unit was not working and parts were on order. Luckily, the weather cooled the next few days and the mini-splitter unit was able to keep up.

Close to everything we wanted to do!

It was our central location to all the places we were wanting to go. It is close to Pike's Peak, the Effigy Mounds, and shopping in Prairie du Chien. It was cold outside, so we stayed more at the house and enjoyed watching the eagles and barges go by. We had a wonderful time at Water Street Lodge! We look forward to visiting again.

Nice view

The host Laura was very responsive. We had hoped to use the Gazebo for a little Bridal Shower, but it was not safe or useable condition. I guess it was damaged from a recent flood. I understood but would of thought it would been fixed knowing the place was rented. The deck along the entire house was great to enjoy family conversations from Morning to night. It could use a cleaning though. All the outdoor furniture was dirty and tons of spider webs, to be expected as it is on the water, but I don’t think the property was really cleaned before we arrived. The amount of room was perfect for our Family. The inside was not real clean. there were not enough towels in the house for all of us to shower without washing them after others were done. The hand towels in the kitchen all looked dirty. There were lots of bugs and dirt on the window sills and counters when we got there. I wiped all the tables and counters down immediately. The basement/ Garage was not part of the rental, which was fine but it was accessible by a door into the house that was not locked. There is a train the goes by about 2 to 4 times a night, but it did not really bother us. Would I stay here again? No. Only because I did not feel like it was that clean. I also thought it was odd that they wanted us to leave the comforters on the beds but strip the rest of the bed linens. The home has a great views, but needs some TLC.

Large group!

We had a group of 10 plus a baby, and this property was just right! Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep, and there were enough bathrooms to accommodate all. It's a great location, the place was clean and well stocked, and kitchen and common areas were plenty big for all of us. Highly recommend, and Laura was very helpful!
