Black Beauty Mangakino has recently undergone renovations and now features all new double glazing, providing a comfortable stay for up to 12 guests across two separate living spaces. Perfect for your next getaway!

The main house offers 2 queen bedrooms and an open-plan living and kitchen area, comfortably sleeping up to 7 guests with air conditioning and heating. For the rest of your group, the newly built rear cabin provides a queen bedroom and a spacious rumpus room that can accommodate another 5 guests.

The biggest dilemma? Deciding who sleeps where!

Set on an 800sqm flat section, Black Beauty and its new cabin offer a pet-friendly environment, complete with a fenced backyard for your dogs. The property features 3 queen bedrooms and a large rumpus room within a spacious 150+sqm family-friendly holiday home. The open-plan living area includes French doors on both ends, allowing for natural airflow and creating a comfortable living space. There are also 2 full bathrooms and an outdoor shower for added convenience.

Whether you're hosting a second family or giving the teens their own space while you enjoy some adult downtime, the possibilities are endless!

Both the front and rear decks are covered with year-round pergolas, providing a perfect spot for BBQs, outdoor games, and fresh air no matter the weather. Or simply relax on the bean bags.

Outdoor activities include soccer, backyard cricket, Connect 4, Risk, Jenga, Pétanque, frisbees, and a trampoline, providing hours of fun for both kids and adults. Inside, you'll find a foosball table, along with a variety of toys, games, and books to keep everyone entertained.

After an active day, take a refreshing outdoor shower under the stars, or enjoy the comfort of the indoor shower.

Both houses are fully insulated and equipped with large heat pumps for year-round comfort. Solar panels are in place to reduce energy consumption and promote sustainability. For your entertainment, both homes feature a smart flat-screen TV with Freeview, Netflix, and casting options, as well as ample WiFi.

There’s plenty of parking for boats, jet skis, toys, or caravans, with parking available in both the front and back yards.

Both front doors feature an electronic code lock, allowing you to set your own personalized code, with the added convenience of auto-locking after 15 minutes.

We’re happy to accommodate early or late check-ins/outs and lake access, typically at no extra charge—just let us know when booking, and we’ll do our best to work with your schedule.

The entire house, cabin, spa, and section are yours to enjoy, whether you’re relaxing solo or sharing the space with family or friends.

While our Kiwi Bach may not yet be a 5-star property, it’s a warm and welcoming space perfect for unwinding and making memories. This is our family lake house, where we love to explore the local area and use it as a base for all kinds of activities.

In keeping with the Kiwi Bach tradition, we kindly ask guests to leave the house in a tidy condition. If possible, please do the dishes or at least load them into the dishwasher and turn it on before departing.

We provide high-quality mattresses, pillows, and duvets on all beds, with extra blankets available if needed. Our Sleepyhead beds are consistently praised for their comfort!

A $100 cleaning & linens fee per stay covers the costs of our local cleaning crew, who ensure the house is spotless before and after your stay. They also take care of guest reviews.

We’re pet-friendly (with prior notice) and charge the same rate for pets as we do for extra guests. Some booking platforms may not allow pets, but we can arrange this after booking. The pet fee helps cover additional cleaning, including carpet shampooing, to keep the space fresh for future guests.

Please note that smoking is only allowed outside, and all cigarette butts must be disposed of properly in the bin—please don’t leave them on the grounds.

We’re within walking distance of local shops, including a small grocery store, bakery, cafe, pharmacy, and takeaways. The closest petrol station is just 5 minutes away in Whakamaru.

About 45 minutes to 1 hour from both Taupo and Rotorua.

About Mangakino:
Mangakino is a peaceful lakeside village located next to Lake Maraetai in the heart of New Zealand’s North Island, within the Great Lake Taupo region. Once a thriving town due to the dam construction and forestry industry, it has now become a quiet getaway popular with holidaymakers and tourists. Mangakino is ideal for water sports, hiking, mountain biking, and relaxing weekends by the lake.

Enjoy a picnic on the shores of Lake Maraetai while watching wakeboarders or take a refreshing swim in the warm waters during summer. Mountain bikes and kayaks are available for hire at the lakefront.

The Waikato River Trails, which run along the Mangakino lakefront, are perfect for hiking and mountain biking. The southern trail leads to the Whakamaru Dam and features a 70-meter suspension bridge across the river.

Hiking in the Pureora Forest is also popular, especially the renowned Timber Trail.

Getting Here:
You’ll need a car to access the property. There is no public transport available.

We are approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour from both Taupo and Rotorua, and 2.5 hours from Auckland.
