First and foremost, one side of the curtain was broken, preventing me from fully covering the window, and the outside light continued to shine into the room. From my understanding, breakfast is served from 6 AM to 9 AM on weekdays and from 7 AM to 10 AM on weekends. I went down to get breakfast around 9:30 AM on a Sunday. A woman was cleaning the dining area, lifting chairs and placing them on top of the tables. I didn’t think much of it and continued walking toward the food section. There was a man with several plates serving himself. As my family and I approached the counter, the woman who had been cleaning came over and informed us that breakfast had already ended. She then unplugged the waffle machine rather pointedly and remarked, “Y’all can grab whatever is left in the bagel cabinet. If there’s still something.” The man quietly muttered, “I didn’t know, since you didn’t tell me anything.” The entire interaction left me feeling that both my family and I were treated unfairly. While we have been guests at this hotel in the past, this experience has convinced me that my family and I will not be returning to the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Marshall.
