„It should really be a 5 tar hotel but let’s itself down in too many ways. Positives: The building is beautiful. The gardens and surroundings the equal of anywhere I have stayed. Negatives: The swimming pool is the most horrendously over chlorinated pool I have been in this side of 1990. End result from using it is a severe ear infection. "Gut geführtes und gepflegtes Haus direkt am See in wunderbarer Lage, etwas abgeschieden von weiterer Bebauung; wenige Zimmer und sehr persönlich und individuell. Ausgezeichnetes Frühstück und auf Wunsch Abendessen"

"Wir kamen zu Fuß, um einen Zwischenstopp auf unserer Wanderung (WHW) einzulegen. Die Betten sind super bequem, es gibt eine Badewanne und fußläufig Restaurants. Sehr nette Begrüßung an der Rezeption. Vor allem empfehlen wir den Imbisstand direkt neben der Brücke, wenn man auf die Tyndrum-Logde zugeht. Er heißt "Happy Haggis", dort kann man die besten Breakfast Rolls frühstücken! Der Stand hat von 7-19:30 Uhr in der Hauptsaison geöffnet, Mittagspause von 12:30-15:30 ungefähr. "

"Die Pots waren okay. Sie sind relativ neu und deshalb noch in gutem Zustand. Man mekrt jedoch, dass sie sehr feucht sind (der Boden wellt sich bereits, die Scheiben beschlagen). Weiss also nicht wie lang es hält. Die Unterkunft war ansonsten aber sauber. Tolles Kaffee (St. Mocha) direkt nebenan :)"

"If you’re after a stunning view, Duck Bay certainly delivers – the loch is breathtaking. Sadly, that’s where the charm ends. The rest feels like a duck decoy: glossy on the surface, but hollow underneath. Reception staff weren’t rude, but they might as well have been automated – check-in and check-out were delivered in flat monotone, and no one seemed to care that my stay was merely “okay.” The room was basic, with decor so synthetic it practically quacked of plastic. The smell of it lingered until I opened the patio doors – but that just invited in mosquitos. The bathroom was worse: black mould in the shower, a glass shelf that made every bottle placed on it slide off, and water pressure so weak it barely qualified as a shower. To top it off, music from the deserted outdoor area blared into the night. Reception had already shut by 9pm, so I had to call the restaurant to have it turned down. Duck Bay may look the part, but for the price of a supposedly three-star hotel, it’s all plastic feathers and no real duck. I won’t be paddling back."

The decor is nice enough in a traditionally kitsch Scottish fashion, but looking a little dated. The food was okay, but nothing you won’t get in any decent pub in the UK. The continental breakfast was, by a distance, the poorest value for money breakfast I have ever paid for. We were a little late going down(9:15am) and at that stage all that remained was a couple of options for cerial, 3 croissants, and a handful of tiny pancakes. Given a few other tables joined around the same time, this didn’t go far, and it took far longer than it really should have to top up what was there, and that top up wasn’t a huge amount more than what was there when we first walked in. That said, our breakfast was probably more enjoyable than the couple who asked for a table next to one of the windows and were told thy couldn’t sit there as the tables were still dirty, and were then told that the kitchen was unable to cook an omelette. I have stayed at other McDonald Hotels and they have been excellent, but this one was a let down. It wouldn’t take a huge amount of time and effort to make it worth its name."
