The Space:

The Lighthouse is spread across several levels, giving the home its distinctive character and creating a variety of spaces for families and groups to enjoy.



On the ground floor, the main living area opens directly onto the large outdoor deck, creating an easy connection between indoor and outdoor living. This room also doubles as the third bedroom, with a pull-down double bed that can be folded away during the day.



Outside, the generous decking provides plenty of space to dine, relax and enjoy the coastal surroundings. A private spa pool adds an extra touch of luxury - perfect for a soak after a day at the beach or under the stars on a clear Golden Bay evening.



Upstairs in the main house is a bedroom with four single beds, making it ideal for children, teenagers or groups of friends.



Continue into the lighthouse itself and you will find the master bedroom, furnished with a queen bed, its own ensuite bathroom and a private balcony.



At the very top of the lighthouse is one of the property’s most special features: an intimate sitting area surrounded by windows and elevated above the surrounding landscape. It is an ideal place to read, enjoy a quiet morning coffee or settle in with an evening glass of wine while taking in the views across Ligar Bay.

The Neighborhood:

The Lighthouse sits in Ligar Bay, one of Golden Bay’s most beautiful coastal pockets, with sheltered swimming, golden beaches and some of the region’s best-known natural attractions close by.



Ligar Bay beach is approximately a five-minute walk from the property, making it easy to wander down for a morning swim, paddle or relaxed afternoon beside the water. Tata Beach is only a short drive away and is a popular departure point for kayaking and exploring the coastline towards Abel Tasman National Park.



The northern reaches of Abel Tasman National Park are also close by, putting walking tracks, secluded bays and some of New Zealand’s most spectacular coastal scenery within easy reach. Boat-launching facilities are available at both Tata Beach and Tarakohe Harbour.



A little further afield, spend the day discovering Wainui Falls, Tōtaranui, Te Waikoropupū Springs, Awaroa, Farewell Spit or Wharariki Beach, or head into Tākaka for cafés, galleries, shops and its famously relaxed Golden Bay atmosphere.



Despite being close to so much, Ligar Bay retains a peaceful holiday feel. It is the kind of place where days revolve around the tide, the beach and the weather - and evenings can be spent back at The Lighthouse watching the changing colours over the bay from your own private lookout.



Other Things to Note:

Please note that The Lighthouse is not suitable for babies or toddlers due to the steep stairs and spiral staircase within the lighthouse. Families with older children are welcome, but we ask guests to consider the layout carefully when booking.



This is also a pet-free property, so unfortunately dogs and other pets cannot be accommodated.



The property is not fully fenced, which may also be important for guests travelling with children.
