3 Pros / 2 Cons (we believe in honest expectations):
+ The view. It's the reason this place exists — Mt Massive frames the front window like a postcard.
+ Walkable to everything in Leadville's downtown — restaurants, the brewery, the bookstore, the historic mining district.
+ Pet setup is real — gated yard, doggy door, no song and dance.
− No A/C. Leadville sits at 10,152 ft and rarely needs it; the windows do the work.
− Wide steps lead down to the unit. Manageable but not step-free, and the unit upstairs (Hilltop Haven) does have stairs.
Guest Access:
You have the entire 2-bedroom lower unit, the fenced yard, and on-site parking. Self check-in via smart lock — your code is sent the day of arrival.
The Hilltop Suite is the lower unit of a small triplex. There is a separate 1-bedroom unit next door and a 3-bedroom home (the Hilltop Haven) above. You will not have access to those units, the owner's closet, or the upstairs hot tub.
After booking you'll receive an email with a link to our digital guidebook — that's where check-in details, the door code, and the WiFi password live. (The guidebook also handles pet fees and any add-ons.)
Wide steps lead down to the unit. Manageable for most guests but not step-free.
The Neighborhood:
You're four blocks from downtown Leadville's Main Street — restaurants, the brewery, the bookstore, the mining museum, and the start of the Mineral Belt Trail. Leadville is North America's highest incorporated city (10,152 ft) and a quintessential Victorian mining town: walkable, lived-in, and surrounded by the highest peaks in the Rockies.
The Hilltop Suite sits directly on the Leadville Race Series 100-mile bike and run course — a perk for athletes, a fun curiosity for everyone else.
Within walking distance: Main Street restaurants, the brewery, the mining museum, the Mineral Belt Trail trailhead.
Within a short drive:
- Ski Cooper (~25 min) — family-friendly, no-lift-line skiing
- Copper Mountain (~25 min) — full-mountain ski resort
- Turquoise Lake (~12 min) — kayaking, fishing, swimming, lakeside trails
- Mt Elbert Trailhead (~26 min) — Colorado's highest summit
- Vail Ski Resort (~47 min)
- Keystone, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek — all within an easy day trip
Year-round activities: skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating, Nordic skiing on the Mineral Belt Trail, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling (including Mosquito Pass at 13,186 ft — the highest vehicular road in the U.S.), exploring ghost towns, walking tours of the Victorian district.
Getting Around:
You'll want a car. Leadville sits roughly 2 hours from Denver International Airport (~110 mi) and 1 hour from Eagle County Airport (~50 mi); both are straightforward drives. Free on-site parking at the Suite — no meters, no garages.
Once you're here, downtown Leadville is a 5-minute walk and most trailheads, ski areas, and lakes are within a 30-minute drive. There is no rideshare reliability in Leadville — Uber/Lyft are not a backup plan.
Tesla / EV drivers: there's a charger on-site (Tesla connector). Mention it when you book if you'd like to confirm availability.
Winter driving note: Highway 24 is plowed and well-maintained, but a 4WD/AWD vehicle with proper tires is strongly recommended December through April.

A few things worth knowing upfront:
- No A/C. Leadville rarely needs it — open windows do the work even in July.
- Altitude is real. Leadville is 10,152 ft. Hydrate, take it easy day one, and consider travel insurance if you're prone to altitude sickness — we can't refund altitude-related early checkouts.
- Quiet hours 10 PM–8 AM. There are neighbors above; please be considerate.
- Pets: $60 pet fee, 2 pets max. Pets cannot be left unattended at the property — there are local doggy daycare options if you need them.
- Mountain wildlife: occasional small critters and insects come with the territory. Keep doors closed and you won't notice them.
- Wide steps down to the unit. Manageable for most guests but not step-free.
Interaction with Guests:
The Traverse Hospitality team is a phone call or message away from arrival to checkout — usually within an hour during business hours, faster if it's urgent. We're local, we know the area, and we'd rather give you a real recommendation than a list of links.
Otherwise we stay out of your way. No drop-ins, no surprise visits.
