The '46er' chalet is named for the 46 highest peaks in the Adirondacks, all towering at 4000' or more...

This charming A frame chalet is well-equipped and well-oriented in a quiet, private setting. Tranquil and forested, the property enjoys views of Esther, Lookout and Whiteface Mountains.

At the 46er, you'll find the warmth and comfort of home, brimming with cozy-cabin style and amenities. The chalet has been completely remodeled with hardwood floors, skylights, granite countertops, updated kitchen appliances and a fireplace insert. (You however will not find pillows with vacation messaging or a vast array of souvenir bathing products!)

Nestled on a hillside, our classic A frame looks out on the Stephenson Range and Whiteface Mt., which is just two miles away. This venerable Olympic mountain has been voted the Best Ski Center in the North East, and is typically open from mid-November into April. It has some of the steepest and most challenging terrain in the East, along with an extensive beginner area. ("Bear Den") In the warmer months, Whiteface offers mountain biking, gondola rides and special events. Additional world-class mountain biking trails are accessed from nearby Hardy Road. Enjoy a lovely afternoon on nearby Lake Everest (a tranquil section of the Ausable River, dammed for recreation) where you can canoe, paddle board and swim at the town beach, or visit the spectacular Wilmington Flume Falls. If you love fly-fishing, you can't find a better location. Less than a mile away is the West Branch of the Ausable River which is famous for its wily trout! Wilmington is an outdoor enthusiast's mecca.

Other nearby ventures include taking a drive to the top of Whiteface Mt. on the Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway, a visit to "Santa's Workshop" children's theme park, or a stop at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge.

Lake Placid Village is just ten miles away along the Au Sable on one of the most picturesque roads in the Adirondacks. Here you can enjoy shopping, dining, the arts and museums, The Olympic Center, golf, horse shows, movies, festivals, nightlife---all are here in this lively Olympic Village.

Back at the chalet, you'll enjoy the large, wrap around deck featuring Adirondack chairs, and an outdoor dining area with grill.

The hot tub is perfect for a relaxing soak after a day on the hiking or skiing trails. In the evening, enjoy a fire around our outdoor fire pit.

While the chalet can sleep up to 5, please keep in mind that the living space is a total of 800 sq. ft. so guests may find it more comfortable with 4 or fewer occupants. Also note, the roomy loft bedroom is accessed by a somewhat steep staircase, typical for A frame construction. (it also has a railing but no privacy door)

This place has it all! Close to everything in the area and packed with all the things you may need. Fully stocked with firewood from kindling to logs for the fire pit outside. Host is very attentive to anything you may need and if you have an issue they are all over fixing it. Cozy little place with space to relax. Definitely will be back and recommend! Thanks 46er!!!

We have stayed at the 46er several times already and have loved it each time! This time we ended up getting 20" of snow during our stay. We got all of our activities in before the snow, stocked up on food, and enjoyed being "snowed in" for a day. Elizabeth stayed in contact to make sure everything was ok with weather and snow clearing. Thanks for another wonderful family weekend!

Everything you could need is provided at this lovely cabin, including touches such as the food for your fireplace and bonfires. The cabin perfectly sized for two. We particularly enjoyed the wrap around porch where we had our morning coffee. The hot tub was a wonderful bonus. We loved the location. It's so close to great trails and restaurants, but out of the bustle of lake placid itself. We'd love to return!

This A-frame home was perfect for me and my wife’s stay. The hot tub, lean-to, and cozy space were so relieving to come home to after hiking the high peaks, canoeing, mountain biking, and fly fishing the west branch Ausable. The property has everything we needed throughout our stay, and the owners are clearly thoughtful and welcoming to their guests. Perfect proximity to the ausable for fishing, mountain bike trails at Hardy road and the flume system, and short hikes off of 86 and whiteface. We caught a lunar eclipse one night on the property, and the moon was the brightest we had ever seen it. Other nights we were anble to stargaze a decent bit too. Our dog also had a great time and did not want to leave!

This propety is wonderful! It is quiet, clean, comfortable and homey! It has a cozy feeling that helps you relax and recharge. The property is 10-20 minutes away from amazing trails and the hot tub is incredible after a day of hiking. The host was communicative and kind! My partner and I truly loved our stay here and will be staying here the next time we hike in ADK. 10/10 recommend.

This adorable A Frame is right in the woods. Despite other houses nearby it feels like you’re the only ones around. The stairs up are steep, but easily navigated. The view is amazing. The hot tub was so perfect at night! The home itself is so clean. And it is so well stocked. You need it? It is there! Pizza pan? Hair dryer? First aid? You got it! Spices, all the little things you forget to bring are there. And it is so clean. So so clean! The little bits & pieces used to decorate the kitchen were my favorite touches. We loved the books. There’s tons of games, too. The water pressure in the shower was great. Tons of hot water, too. There is one problem. My hubby fell in love with the Adirondack Lean-to in the back yard & now we are going to have to build one! Darn it! We would whole heartedly recommend this home! Oh! The owners are amazing! We had a few little questions & they were answered quickly & kindly.

This is the second time we've stayed at this property, and it really is great. It's close enough to Lake Placid and Keene to make getting around easy, while being far enough out that it really does feel quite private. The cabin is incredibly charming and put us into vacation mode instantly. Highly recommended!

Just got back from our stay at the 46er Chalet. Couldn’t ask for a better location - this is minutes from the foot of Whiteface ski area and fifteen minutes or so from the Village of Lake Placid. The cozy cabin had everything we needed! We would gladly stay here again.

We recently stayed at the "46er Chalet". What a beautiful little chalet. It was just perfect for my husband & myself, along with our little dog. I gave it the 3 C's, Clean, Comfortable & Cozy! Fully stocked with all you could possibly need. Only 2 miles from Whiteface Mountain. We truly loved the Hot Tub & the indoor fireplace. Wonderful is all I can think to say. We will definitely be back.

We really loved our stay. Amazing location, amazing views, and loved how cozy it was. We stayed to snowboard a few days on Whiteface and were surprised just *how* close we were to the mountain (5min drive). After a day on the mountain, the hot tub was the perfect treat to get back to. The home itself was comfortable to lounge in, play cards by the fireplace, and they had a few board games for us to choose from as well which we enjoyed. The house was neat and moderately clean (a few hairs in the shower) but nothing that would change our experience. Overall great stay and we look forward to returning!
