We have been renting in Keystone for several years. While we loved this area, the house was not our favorite and we wouldn't stay here again...
Some things to know if you plan to stay here:
- the house is floor heated - it takes longer to heat and requires a higher temperature than normal to get to a comfortable ambient temperature.
- we were not given a garage opener and were told they "don't give those out" - Unfortunately that meant we had to go up the stairs, into the front door and down the stairs to the garage to open the garage any time we wanted to leave or come back....It seems small but it was hugely inconvenient, especially in ski gear and with icy conditions...
- the downstairs is LOUD. The house doesn't just creak...it makes LOUD POPS at night which kept waking everyone up throughout each night. We live in the city and are used to a loud sleeping environment, but the loud pops were very jarring.
HOWEVER:
- The location is amazing - it feels very remote, but we could be at the slopes/in town within 3 minutes by car.
- It has 2 very large living areas and we loved the open kitchen floor plan on the upper floor for hanging out.
- They did let us check in VERY EARLY which was a godsend as we had driven through the night and had a toddler with us.
A couple other small issues with our rental period:
- the house wasn't cleaned very well...there were many spider webs including one with a huge amount of eggs...they offered to have someone come out to clean when we asked if there was a vacuum we could use...but we didn't want anyone in our space on cmas day...
- The nest thermostat (automatically?) shut off at midnight on the day of our departure. We woke up at 5am with the house at 53 degrees...
