"I had a wonderful stay at JR Inn Hakodate, and would absolutely recommend it—especially if you’re arriving by train, as the hotel is directly connected to the JR station, making it incredibly convenient. I booked a higher room category, and the room size was noticeably larger than the usual standard in Japan. If you’re traveling with luggage or simply want more space to relax, I can’t stress enough how important it is to upgrade to a bigger room—it really enhanced my comfort. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, and basic amenities like a fridge and kettle were provided. Tap water is safe to drink in Japan, so that’s a big plus. While there’s no in-room coffee, I brought my own instant coffee. Alternatively, there’s a lounge on the 12th floor offering green tea and basic drip coffee—what it lacks in strength, the lovely view makes up for. The tram stop is just outside, giving easy access to major sights, but I also walked a lot and really enjoyed exploring the area on foot. Lastly, a small detail: I kindly pointed out some dust in the A/C vent to one of the housekeeping staff, who was very sweet and receptive. It’s clear the staff takes pride in maintaining a welcoming and clean environment. A peaceful, well-located base in Hakodate—great value, comfort, and convenience."
