Summary:

Welcome to Kaanapali Alii, an oceanfront resort right on Kaanapali Beach in West Maui, one of the most celebrated beaches in Hawaii. Your reservation includes two spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bath ocean-view condos, each with a private lanai: four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two gourmet kitchens and two living areas, with beds for 12 guests. Step from the resort straight onto the sand, walk to Whalers Village for dinner, and come home to oceanfront pools, a fitness center and yoga studio, tennis courts and BBQ facilities.



What we guarantee: Both condos are always inside Kaanapali Alii. Condo 1 is a 2-bedroom condo and Condo 2 is a 2-bedroom condo, with exactly the beds listed below in every bedroom. Both condos are ocean-view condos with a private lanai. Both homes are kept to the same quality standard, with finishes similar to what you see in these photos. If we ever could not deliver that, you would approve the alternative first or receive a full refund.



Bed types: Condo 1 - Master Bedroom: California King; Bedroom 2: 2 Queens; Condo 2 - Master Bedroom: California King; Bedroom 2: 2 Doubles.



Each condo sleeps 6 guests in beds, for 12 in total. In each home the primary bedroom has a California king bed; the second bedroom has two queen beds in Condo 1 and two double beds in Condo 2, so each second bedroom sleeps up to 4, ideal for kids or friends.



Good to know before you book: each condo has its own front door and its own entry details, so the two halves of the group keep their own schedules. Kaanapali Alii charges a daily resort fee, paid directly to the resort; the details are in the notes below. There is a 4-night minimum stay (5 nights in winter), with check-in from 3 PM and check-out by 11 AM.



The Space:

Condo 1 (2BR ocean view): Condo 1 is a corner condo with ocean views from nearly every angle, visible throughout the open-plan living area. A curved double sofa and lanai loungers echo the colors of the ocean, and dining on the private lanai, whether a leisurely breakfast or a sunset meal, is a daily pleasure. The gourmet kitchen has wood and glass cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, granite counters and bar seating, with indoor dining for six and outdoor dining for four on the furnished lanai. The primary bedroom has a California king bed and ocean views, and the second bedroom has two queen beds and views toward the West Maui Mountains. Both bathrooms have twin vanities and walk-in showers. It has central air conditioning, ceiling fans throughout, TVs in both bedrooms and a full washer and dryer.



Condo 2 (2BR ocean view): Condo 2 looks over the Pacific and Kaanapali Alii's landscaped grounds, with bright, airy decor inspired by Hawaii's flora and colorful island artwork. The spacious living area has a large sectional sofa for relaxing together after a day in the sun, and the kitchen, with black appliances, granite counters and bar seating for three, keeps the cook part of the conversation. There is a dining table for six and a private lanai with lounge chairs and a table, where you can take in the ocean breeze and the sound of the waves. The primary bedroom has a California king bed and a seating area overlooking the ocean, perfect for morning coffee, and the second bedroom has two double beds. Both bathrooms have walk-in showers. It has central air conditioning, TVs with cable and a full washer and dryer.



The resort: Kaanapali Alii sits directly on Kaanapali Beach, about a minute's walk from both condos to the sand. Guests have full access to the resort amenities: oceanfront pools, a hot tub, a fitness center and yoga studio, tennis courts, BBQ facilities, an herb garden, a sundry store, on-site spa treatments and free covered parking. Both condos are within Kaanapali Alii, so the whole group shares the same pools, beach and grounds.



Two condos rather than one large house give a group the best of both worlds: everyone gathers on the beach, at the pool or around the barbecue, and then each family or couple has its own kitchen, living area and lanai to retreat to, so early risers and night owls never get in each other's way.

The Neighborhood:

Kaanapali Beach is a long, golden stretch of sand lined with resorts, restaurants and beach activities, and Kaanapali Alii sits right on it. Whalers Village, with its dining and shopping, is about a 5-minute walk along the beachfront path, and Island Vintage Coffee and Starbucks are about 5 minutes on foot for the morning coffee run. The Kaanapali Golf Club courses are about 2 minutes by car, and Safeway and Foodland Farms, for stocking both kitchens, are about a 7-minute drive.



Black Rock, at the north end of Kaanapali Beach, is one of West Maui's best-known snorkeling spots, and the beachfront path makes it easy to stroll the whole resort strip in the evening. North of Kaanapali, Napili Bay is a sheltered cove popular for snorkeling and spotting green sea turtles, and Kapalua has its bays, world-class golf and the Kapalua Coastal Trail. Honolua Bay, known for summer snorkeling and winter surf, is beyond Kapalua.



Winter is whale season, and the channel between Maui, Molokai and Lanai is one of the best places in Hawaii to watch humpbacks from shore, often right from the lanai. The West Maui sunsets over the ocean are a nightly event year-round, and day trips to the summit of Haleakala and the Road to Hana are easy to plan from here.



Getting Around:

Kahului Airport (OGG), Maui's main airport, is about 50 minutes by car from Kaanapali, and Kapalua Airport, which serves interisland flights, is a short drive north. Whalers Village, coffee and the beach are all walkable along the beach path, and a car is handy for exploring the rest of West Maui and the island. Covered parking at the resort is free. Rideshare services operate on Maui and can handle airport runs and evenings out.
