Your mountain getaway begins as you wind up from the river valley along a ¼ mile gravel road. You’ll find the house nestled into the hillside and surrounded by acres of undeveloped woodland.
Inside, you'll feel right at home with the cozy cabin charm, complete with everything you'll need for a hassle-free and relaxing stay. The house was built in 1972 as a fishing cabin, and we have made a number of renovations while trying to preserve the original character. While you'll find new flooring and fixtures, the large stone fireplace, wood paneling, and ceiling rafters still lend a rustic air. We hope you'll get a kick out of some of the retro decor and accessories, but we've also equipped the house with modern amenities like a gas grill and air fryer.
The main living area includes a living room, dining area, and full kitchen. The large windows and high ceiling make this area feel spacious and bright. There’s plenty of room for the whole family on the comfy sectional couch, and the dining table seats six. The Roku TV has Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max accounts, as well as live Roku channels.
The kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare meals at home, from cookware to spices, condiments, and coffee. Appliances include an air fryer, microwave, panini press, drip coffee maker and stovetop espresso maker.
Relax like royalty in the master bedroom’s king 4-poster bed with luxurious Sealy Posturepedic mattress. The second bedroom is the “kids room,” with a twin-over-full bunk bed with pull-out twin trundle. For larger groups, extra linens are available to make up the living room sectional couches, each large enough for one adult to sleep comfortably.
The large front porch is a guest favorite. By day, you can watch the busy flock of hummingbirds while you recline on the porch swing or gravity lounge chair. The gas grill and patio table are perfect for a sunset dinner, and in the evening, rope lighting creates the perfect ambiance while you listen to the sounds of the river.
A short set of stairs leads down the outdoor firepit, the perfect spot for marshmallows under the stars. Firewood is ready for you, so no need to forage, and we’ve even got the s’more supplies covered!
The hot tub is located on a small porch at the back of the house. Enjoy a relaxing soak rain or shine, and ambient lighting creates a mellow mood after dark.
When you’re ready to venture out, there’s tons to do in the immediate area. Some guest favorites include:
*Tubing and kayaking down the river
*Hiking Mt. Jefferson
*Swimming and riding the mini rapids at Elk Shoals
*Gem hunting and gold panning at Gem Valley
*Watching cheesemaking at Ashe County Cheese
*Solving the escape room at Southern Gothic Curiosity Shop
*Browsing the many antique shops in W. Jefferson
*Listening to live music at local breweries and wineries
There’s plenty more to do, and we are happy to offer suggestions and recommendations based on your group’s interests and activity level. We hope you’ll consider Roswell’s Landing for your mountain getaway!
