2/10
My wife and I drove ten hours and arrived at Tru Hilton Jacksonville Airport I-95 at 12:20 am. After finding my reservation, Tim, the desk clerk asked for my license and credit card. I set them on the counter near him as he was typing and staring at his screen. He read them and asked me to put my card into the chip reader. I asked him for my card back so I could accomplish this. He said I needed to reach and get them the same way I placed them. I'm confused. He says "That's something people do to avoid touching people of color." (Tim is black by the way) I say "I'm not that guy. I placed them there because you were typing." He does NOT accept my explanation and forces my wife to retrieve my cards. I remind him he's a representative of The Hilton. He says "I'm not representing Hilton, I'm representing myself and people of color." He then gives my wife a room key but not me. The hotel is nice but unbelievably horrible customer service.
