Right on the beach

The place was in a great location. Unfortunately I cannot provide a fair rating because we were unable to stay due to water issues / damage. When we walked into the unit upon check in , there was water all over the kitchen floor and the running water was turned off. Thankfully, the property management company was wonderful to work with and put us up in another building. Being on the 3rd floor, you have incredible views. The unit is small - just enough for two people and no more. The bedroom is at the back of the unit. It would have sufficed for sleeping, showering and enjoying a coffee at sunrise and wine at night on the balcony.

Location was perfect to so much to do. Only downside we locked ourselves on the patio. Did not notice the small message on the door to be careful as door can lock. Lucky some one below us came to our room and let us in.

It’s all about the view

My husband and I stayed here for our 5 year Anniversary and everything was exactly as described. We loved the view, the elevator was nice since I injured my knee and the Vacation Company was a pleasure to work with. My only complaint is that the mattress is the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on, which made it very challenging to get any sleep. Most night my husband and I had to sleep separately; one on the sofa and the other on the bed, just to get some sleep. We tried the pull out sofa and it was far worse than the bed. With that said, the view was everything and made it easier to deal with the lack of sleep.

We were thoroughly pleased with every aspect of our stay. Our unite was exactly as advertised. We were within walking distance of a wide variety of restaurants, the beach, and shopping. We hardly used our car at all. Already considering booking same location for next year.

This property generally looked as pictured. The location was ideal, and the view was one of the best. The property management team handled the issues we had in a way that worked for us. The view from the balcony is unmatched which helped make our stay more enjoyable.

Great condo on the beach

This place was everything we were looking for. On the beach with an unobstructed view. Very close to restaurants, shops and grocery store. The place was very clean, and they provided plenty of towels for both the bath and the beach. This unit is on the top (third) floor walk up. BUT they are installing elevators which will make it super convenient. -- We knew that before we rented the unit and were fine with a little exercise. We arrived early and was able to get in touch with the leasing company who let us into the unit early. My only suggestion is that the condo association install signage indicating where the different units are located. We had to search a little to find our unit. The pool area was very nice and convenient. Overall this was a terrific condo and I would go there again.

A lot to be desired

My wife and I are not very picky, but there were a lot of things that were not great. Don't get me wrong, the beach is nice, the view is nice as well, but the other problems outshine the fun in a way. 1 - There is NO elevator and this apartment is on the third floor, so be ready to go up and down the stairs a lot. They are in the process of adding an elevator, but it's not even close to ready. 2 - There is a serious problem with the air conditioning. I can't expect most people to understand the problem, but I know a lot of you will feel it. I own an air conditioning company, so I would know. It did not matter if you set the thermostat to 72F, 71F, 70F or down to 68F, the place will simply NOT COOL. They need to find a competent company in town since this is not an "obvious fix", I wasn't about to fix the air conditioning unit, nor were we going to have a company come in to tell us the unit was working "OK", I already know how these things go down. Prepare to be hot. 3 - No night stands... Are you serious? We understand the place is small, but the weird cabinets they put next to the beds are not helpful at all, we have never been to a house/rental/hotel where night stands were not next to the bed, as a matter of fact I didn't know how important they were until you didn't have them. There is an iron table on one of the sides of the bed. 4 - Yes, I know... this is petty, BUT in this date and age you almost cannot afford not to have a smart TV (Access to Hulu, Netflix, etc). The TV in the living room didn't have it, so we were "Ok... that's fine, the one in the bedroom has the feature for Netflix", well, nope. It technically worked with these apps, but we tried and tried and couldn't get it to work (I'm very proficient with computers), so if you are planning to binge on some show you will be out of luck. 5 - The couch. I am only 5'9" and when I sat on the couch I could barely keep my legs in. As mentioned in some other reviews, the couch was rather dirty and not great to begin with. 6 - The refrigerator is ancient, it will make a loud noise every so often. Yes it works, but come on. The tub is "squeezy" when you stand, bathroom door keeps half closing (very annoying). I UNDERSTAND that people are trying to make the most amount of money with the LEAST amount of effort (investment), but a place that you are paying GOOD MONEY for should be in better shape, you CANNOT only rely on the view. People get lazy, and that's not right. I could go on and on.

Taken back by lack of cleanliness. Great potential but we likely will not book this unit again.

We wanted to share our experience/thoughts of The Breakers, Villa 313 w/ other travelers. We also hope this review may give the property owner/ management company some, helpful suggestions to better the experience for future renters. The view/location are exactly as described. The beach, many restaurants, bars & shopping are all within a few minutes walk. That was great. Having stayed at various properties on HHI, this location was probably the most convenient & again… that view. A con to the location is the extreme crowds on the beach as you are located right next to the largest public beach access on the island. As mentioned by other reviewers, the complex itself is run down. They are making some upgrades such as adding elevators (be prepared for stairs) but all in all it was not very inviting. All the construction & building materials in the parking areas kind of took away from the beach vacation vibe. The pool area seemed nice but was pretty small. We opted to not use the pool due to the cloudiness of the water. We were happy w/ the beach & surf. When we first walked into the unit, The Vacation Company did a nice job of greeting us w/ a large stack of clean, ready to use bath & beach towels & personal amenities. There was nice welcome bag, too. We were especially pleased to see these bags were prepared by individuals w/ disabilities through a local organization’s day program. This is something close to our hearts & made us smile. Now, at a glance the unit looked as advertised but we were immediately taken back by a few things in regards to cleanliness. We do not consider ourselves overly picky but the couch was disgusting. There were stains on it & it was very dirty/worn. This should be replaced immediately or there should at least be washable slip covers used on this. We used half of the provided towels to cover the couch & one chair during our stay. The floors were also very dirty which wasn’t immediately apparent until we wiped up some water we spilled & the towel turned a muddy brown. The air vent on the hallway ceiling was caked in dust & dirt as were all the base boards (someone once told us that clean baseboards are indicative of a clean home… this unit failed that test horribly). We highly recommend the management company review their cleaning services & quality control.Lastly, we’d recommend a few extra or better pillows for the bed for a better night's sleep. The ones provided were light & small providing little support & sore necks

Excellent location

This was our first time booking through VRBO and the app is user friendly and easy. The property is in an excellent location and convenient to the beach and shopping. The view is beautiful. The unit is well furnished and perfect for a couple. I had to clean the unit before we unpacked.The ceiling fans were filthy, which I read in a prior review but thought they would have been cleaned by now. they were not. This didn’t make me feel confident that the unit had been properly sanitized before we arrived, so I’m glad I brought my own cleaning supplies. Other than that, we had a great first trip to Hilton Head. We will be back.

Had a great stay at the unit. Weather was terrible but we still had a good time. The unit was exactly as advertised. Very nice update. Only two things. Dryer was so loud and vibrated so bad that sand came out from under base board. Regime needs to repair patio. Boards getting soft. If it wasn’t for climbing 40 steps, (tiring for two 78 year olds) we would rent this unit again. Overall it was a very nice unit and we enjoyed the stay.

Winter Paradise Found

Though Breakers is one of the original beach condos, it is holding up nicely. Constant renovations are keeping it an "on the beach" contender. Newer buildings may have more amenities, but the view is breath taking and beach access is 3 minutes. At night, open the slider and let the breaking waves lull you into absolute relaxation. Same time next year.
