I arrived in Auckland and left immediately in a hire car, allowing a generous 3-hour window for what is typically a 1.5-hour journey. Unfortunately, due to an accident and heavy rain, the drive took much longer. During this time, neither I nor a representative from Expedia could reach the lodge manager, which only added to the frustration.
Upon arrival, things went from bad to worse. I was left running around in the pouring rain, trying to locate the correct unit—only to find the entrance gate was locked and I had no access. After a stressful and confusing search, I was finally offered a single room with a single bed—completely unacceptable, as I had booked and paid for a two-bedroom unit for two nights.
Eventually, I was moved to a larger unit, but it was in an appalling state. The paint was peeling throughout, the benchtop and shower window sill were damaged, and the walls were heavily stained and marked. It was run-down, neglected, and clearly not properly maintained.
There was no further communication from the management about placing me in the correct room, nor any apology or attempt to resolve the situation. They simply shoved me into whatever was convenient for them and washed their hands of the issue.
Terrible customer service and a terrible property. I would never stay here again and could never recommend this place to anyone.
It’s not always wise to choose convenience over a bit more travel.
Avoid at all cost!!!!
