This stay ended up being more “character-building” than relaxing, though it did have a few redeeming qualities.Pros: Easy drive to the beach and walkable to a park (with multiple playgrounds, a basketball court, and a public pool. *not yet open for the season during our stay). BeachBox was also very responsive—which really saved the day when our 3-year-old accidentally locked us out. Not our finest moment, but they bailed us out quickly!Cons: The home itself felt pretty grimy. We encountered three cockroaches (a few more roommates than we booked for), and the entire bottom floor had a strong mildew smell, so we avoided it like the plague. Walking barefoot quickly turned into a mistake—the floors left our feet noticeably dirty. They sent a cleaning crew to do a touch up which was a nice gesture, but unfortunately the space still didn’t feel clean. There were also some maintenance quirks: parts of the floor and bathtub felt like they were auditioning for a sinkhole. One of the air vents had a plastic bag over it which was questionable. The bathroom air vent and walls had a lot of dust build up. Upstairs has little to no storage (no closets), so our belongings were living their best chaotic lives everywhere. The couch is very lumpy and well-loved, and the bedding is quite thin—more “camping chic” than cozy retreat.Overall, while the location and responsiveness were positives, the cleanliness and upkeep made it difficult to fully enjoy our stay.
