4/10
The walls are like paper, if you are a light sleeper I do not advise staying here, there was a boiler or something mechanical constantly firing up, making a noise every few seconds, then it would shut down briefly, but then start again! I had about 2 hours sleep.
I was in room 5, which has a huge gap under the door so I could hear everyone else nearby, not just passing my room but in other rooms, with their bathroom fans switching on, walking around etc. I had a full day in work to do in Edinburgh and wish I'd just driven up from my home that morning, 300 miles away as I would have been less tired.
The mirror in the room is weirdly positioned so high it was pointless, I'm 5'3" and had to check my suited appearance in a shop window near my car as I left and do my makeup off a compact mirror I had in my bag. The bathroom one is set so far back from the sink that was no use. Definitely not suitable for a business travel stopover, I had to shut the window too as it was right by a roof so someone could get up there and in to my room, plus there was noise downstairs.
I suppose you get what you pay for, cheap but not cheerful.
Nice staff at breakfast, breakfast was good.
