Clacton-on-Sea is one of Essex's most classic seaside towns - a proper pier, sandy beaches, arcades, fish and chips and the kind of unhurried seaside energy that's increasingly rare. It wears its traditional charm without apology, and for families especially it delivers exactly what a British seaside holiday should.

Clacton Pier is one of Europe's largest pleasure piers - rides, amusements and food stalls stretching out over the water, and a focal point for the town throughout the year. The beach on either side is sandy and well maintained, with the right-hand side of the pier particularly well suited to families with young children due to its shallow water. The West Cliff Theatre and Augusta Adventure Golf are both close by for days when the beach isn't calling.

For eating out, the seafront has the full range of seaside options - fish and chips, ice cream, seafood stalls - with Armstrongs near the pier offering something a step up for an evening meal. The town centre has independent shops, cafés and pubs within easy reach by bus or a short drive.

Further afield, Frinton-on-Sea offers a quieter, more genteel stretch of coast 10 minutes away, Walton-on-the-Naze and its own pier are equally close, and Colchester - Britain's oldest recorded town - is around 20 minutes by car.

The kitchen is fully equipped including an induction hob - pans are provided, so no need to bring your own.

Outside, a deck with seating and a BBQ gives you a proper outdoor space for sunny Essex days - and Clacton's beach is a short walk away for when the surf calls. On-site pool access is included free of charge via passes left in the caravan, which is genuinely rare for a property at this price point and one of the things guests mention most in reviews.

Clacton town centre, the pier and local cafés are easily reached on foot or by a short bus ride. The wider Essex coast - Frinton, Mersea Island, Colchester - is all within easy driving distance for day trips.

There is a pool and other leisure facilities on site - access is via a pass which we have left in the caravan for you FREE of charge. Opening times may vary summer to winter - it’s best to check with park reception for full opening hours.

If you need to use the sofa bed during your stay and you have booked for less than 5 people there will be an additional charge of £25.

The hob and oven are electric - the hob is induction and can only be used with the pans we supply.

A security deposit is needed to secure your booking, unless you have booked via Airbnb.
