Hilton Chicago- Michigan Ave Cultural Mile

an incredibly beautiful hotel with the charm of bygone times. the lobby is just amazing. I especially liked the proximity to Chicago Taste.

Zentrale Lage, um Chicago zu Fuß, Taxi oder mit dem Bus zu erkunden. Zimmer war groß und sauber, hatte einen Safe, aber keine bestückte Minibar. Frühstück war sehr teuer.

I stayed at the Hilton for two private nights after a business trip to Chicago. The hotel is large and was quite busy at this weekend. For a hotel of this size, I would expect to see a reception that is appropriately staffed (I arrived approx. 08:30 p.m. on Friday night). However, it was not and the check-in took ages to complete. The room was pre-paid through the booking site. Nevertheless they block 50 dollar per night on the credit card. I have seen this practice before and the amount was comparably low to what I have experienced before. However, it may take up to 72 hours after check-out to release the money blocked. The room was spacious, including two bathrooms. The sheets however were not clean and this should have been noticed before. I asked for a replacement which was done. What really bothered me was the fact that there is no free internet in the room. One will need to pay at least 12.95 dollar for basic access. This is not acceptable. Free internet is available in the lobby area only (I had to beg for the passcode at reception as they had not provided it to me upon check-in). I had breakfast in the hotel on the second day. The breakfast was good, but the price (29 dollar) too high. Due to a late night flight I stored my luggage in the hotel - of course they charged additionally (3 dollar) for this service.

Gut: The room was large, two bedrooms included.

Nicht so gut: Provide free internet in the rooms. Do not charge for luggage storage.
