Rooms Pros: Spacious, spotless two-bedroom suite; comfortable beds; high-quality toiletries. Cons: Bathroom outlets didn't work. Blackout shades let in so much light that our room was bright by 6:15 a.m. Amenities & Dining Pros: Excellent mashed potatoes, good kids' menu and wine selection. Fun game room with pool, ping pong, and shuffleboard. Cons: Starbucks kiosk had limited menu and doesn't accept the Starbucks app. Overcooked steak and burgers. Service & Operations Pros: Early arrivals can store luggage and use the pool, sauna, and gym. Cons: Pool service was nonexistent. After five unanswered calls to Guest Services, the bar, and the restaurant, I gave up trying to order food and drinks. No pool towels, either. Check-in exceeded 30 minutes because only one front desk employee was handling reception. I watched one guest wait in line twice just to get his room key after being told to return at 4:00, while another couldn't find a luggage trolley. The issue wasn't the employee—it was a hotel that wasn't staffed to provide the polished, welcoming service guests expect. Overall Beautiful property with a lovely suite, but the operations still feel like a soft opening. Guests choose four-star resorts for gracious, attentive service and an effortless experience. Black Rock isn't there yet.

We really enjoyed our stay overall! Having access to the pool and hot tubs until 11:00 PM was a huge plus, and the extra family activities, like the complimentary s'mores by the fire, made our trip even more enjoyable. There were a couple of things that could be improved. First, the bed sizes didn't seem to match the room descriptions. The "king" bed felt much smaller than expected, and the room advertised as having "two queen beds" appeared to have full-size beds instead. My biggest concern, however, was the vacation club/timeshare presentation. After checking in, we were introduced to someone who presented themselves as a travel guide offering discount passes and future travel rewards. It quickly turned into a sales pitch, and we felt pressured to schedule a meeting. We canceled the appointment the next day after realizing what it actually involved. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of it. We were approached at our hotel room door and encouraged multiple times to reconsider. One representative even told us it would help pay for his college tuition if we attended the meeting. While I understand everyone has a job to do, it made us feel uncomfortable and cornered. The presentation was initially framed as receiving travel credits, rather than clearly explaining it was related to a timeshare-style sales presentation. We booked this vacation to relax and spend quality time together during a difficult season for our family. Being approached and pressured took away that feel
