Oldfield House - Number 29
Number 29 is four levels of stylish wonder that blend authentic Victorian heritage and contemporary living. The fusion is so beautifully crafted, it needs to be seen in person. There are antique fireplaces and modern black steel living together harmoniously, original Oregon wooden floors and pressed ceilings alongside Scandinavian-style symmetry and pared down simplicity. Art deco pieces, blonde wood furnishings, subway tiles and mostly monochromatic décor are all calm and soothing.
There’s plenty of space for 12 people across three storeys of living and sleeping area. The six bedrooms on various levels, 5 of the bedrooms have en-suite or private bathrooms and one bedroom does not, and there are multiple living spaces to enjoy alone or in community. This home is an ideal configuration for a group of friends, a multi-generational family holiday, or six couples just wanting to escape together for a while – there’s privacy for everyone. And there’s even a small office space to work, if you must, with wifi throughout. A backup power supply ensures you are always connected to the world.
Actually, the upper rooftop level is the ultimate space to escape, exhale and literally be on top of the world. Imagine cooling off in the long lap pool in summer, looking out across trendy Sea Point all the way to the Atlantic Ocean beyond. Then enjoy a cold one at the rooftop bar and kick back on a lounger under the African sun. It’s a fine way to chill with friends or family, enjoy simple pleasures and make memories to savour.
Your hosts are available from 08h00 to 21h00
Just a five-minute walk from Number 29, is all the activity and vibrance of Sea Point’s renowned main road. Here, a palette of restaurants, delis and delectable coffee shops beckon you to enjoy the good life. And just across the road is the Sea Point promenade, hugging the Atlantic shoreline. There’s always plenty happening here if you’re in the mood for socialising. People walking, running, chilling and soaking up the natural theatre of the ocean; the backdrop of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head is just as enthralling.
This is a unique location to be – between mountain and sea, with all the enchanting attractions of the city – while knowing there’s a cosseted retreat back at Number 29. It’s simply the best of all worlds.
ABOUT SEA POINT
Sea Point is a great combination of residential and commercial properties. Homes and holiday accommodation range from holiday apartments and penthouses overlooking the sea to mansions, historical homes, and Sea Point hotels that are perfect for newlyweds and families.
Its main road slices through Sea Point and boasts loads of shops, eateries, cafés, clubs and fast-food takeaways.
Sea Point is flanked by Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean, and is only minutes away from the centre of Cape Town, the V & A Waterfront, and the CTICC. In fact, much of Sea Point climbs the gentle slope of Signal Hill, giving the homes and accommodation here a fantastic view over the city and the sea.
ATTRACTIONS
The Sea Point promenade is one of the area’s most popular draw cards – not only for tourists, but also for locals that enjoy breathing in the fresh sea spray and drinking in views of the ocean and mountains. The promenade stretches all the way along the beachfront of Sea Point; from Mouille Point to Bantry Bay. Along its length, there are awesome play parks for children, gym equipment, restaurants and coffee shops. Locals love to jog, walk or cycle along the promenade; and moms can bring their prams along too.
The Sea Point Pavilion is a swimming paradise. There is an Olympic-sized pool, two smaller pools, a kiddies’ pool (all filled by the fresh water of the sea), and diving boards. The pool complex is open every day from 07h00 to 19h00.
The trendy, fun beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton are a short drive from Sea Point, and are musts on balmy summer days in the Cape.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
Within only a few kilometres from Sea Point, there are many other attractions. Some of these are world-renowned. They include:
• The City Bowl, as the city centre is known
• Signal Hill and Lion’s Head
• Table Mountain and the cable car that takes visitors to the top
