Dry Valley Ranch is a modern, off-grid, secluded retreat with more than 40 acres to explore. Enjoy a thoughtful space in the Southern Utah desert. This pristine valley is just next to Kodachrome Park at 5,700 feet in elevation. Incredibly remote and 100% off-grid, it’s the ideal base camp for adventure and the perfect getaway for peace and solitude. It's the spirit of the American west…with floor-to-ceiling windows, wifi, a chef’s kitchen, and a distinctly serene temperament.
The space
Dry Valley Ranch is a modern, off-grid retreat nestled in 40 acres of pristine Southern Utah desert. Located within a mile of Kodachrome Basin State Park, beauty and solitude are the highlights here. The home has been designed to take full advantage of the spectacular desert views with huge panoramic windows in each room. There are three outdoor patios for enjoying both sun and shade, a bbq grill and covered outdoor dining for six.
The well-equipped kitchen is perfect for culinary enthusiasts, fully stocked with high-end appliances and staple ingredients for cooking (spices, oils, condiments, etc.), as well as locally roasted Formation Coffee. The house comfortably sleeps up to six. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and ample closet space, as well as a large queen pullout couch that sleeps two adults or kids. The wood burning stove and ductless mini split system heat and cool the house to ensure comfortable temperatures at any time of year.
Sustainability is key here, and with solar energy powering the house, mindful energy use is essential. This helps to promote minimal artificial light for the local wildlife, for starry nights, and contributes to the all around tranquil atmosphere. Water conservation is also necessary as the home is run off of a well and septic. There is also plenty of tech to be enjoyed, with vintage audio equipment and consistent wifi always available. Due to the energy limitations, there is no EV charging available at the ranch, hosts can offer recommendations on the best places to charge locally. Pets are allowed only with prior approval and confirmation of pet rules.
Given the remote nature of our location and dirt road access for the final mile to the house, we recommend that all guests make it a priority to arrive during daylight hours. Please screenshot all directions to the property as cell service will likely be lost prior to arrival. Cell phones can be connected to the wifi network for service once you reach the house. To reach the home, you will enter through Kodachrome State Park. Included in your stay is a park pass to Kodachrome State Park for the duration of your visit! Our hosts will greet you upon arrival and assist with getting you checked in. They live in a separate studio next door to the main house. They are always available via text or call for any questions or assistance, but will otherwise keep to themselves.
Dry Valley Ranch is an ideal base for both solitude and exploration in the heart of the Utah desert, providing access to Bryce Canyon, Zion, Boulder and Escalante.
DIRT ROADS: The last mile to our home is a dirt road. It's in great condition, but can be subject to inclement weather. We do recommend driving high clearance and AWD vehicles whenever possible. PETS: All pet considerations must be discussed and pre-approved by the owners in advance of booking. Any damages incurred from approved or unapproved pets will be the renter’s responsibility to cover. Pet deposit required. Pets are never allowed to be left unattended in the home at any time.
EV CHARGING: Due to the Off-Grid nature of the house there is no EV charging allowed at DVR.
