Short stay with family

Had a lovely couple of days staying in Tideswell. Stanley Barn was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. A perfect place to explore the area from with our young family.

Lovely short break!

Snug and well laid out barn, walking distance to shops, pubs and cafes. We were off season on a Monday and Tuesday so lots of pubs and cafes closed but you can find some if you search around. Beautiful walks and cycles right on the doorstep. We found the parking fine especially if you reverse in. Very friendly hosts, we appreciated the arrival pack and the firewood for the stove.

Nice little hideaway where all friends (Dogs) are welcome

Small Rustic Barn conversion, nice and cosy with a wood fire. We found it to be very comfortable with our 3 Dogs. It has a shower/toilet/sink by the front door and a toilet/sink as en-suite to the bedroom. Lounge has two double couches, TV/DVD, lovely fire. Kitchen has Washer/Microwave/Cooker/Hob/Toaster/Coffee Machine and a small fridge/freezer. Bed is comfy, bedding & towels provided. Nice touches were the Bottle of Wine, Coffee and Milk from the Local dairy waiting for us; much appreciated. Tideswell itself is beautiful, so picturesque at Dusk when all the cosy lights are on and the air fills with chimney smoke smells. It has a small co-op and a green grocers, there's also a farm shop a short drive away selling firewood (there is also a track nearby for Dog toileting) We would recommend a short drive to the Monsal Trail; an old Train Track now used by walkers and cyclists, we stopped at Millers Dale Car Park which has a cafe at the disused Train Station, the walk is great for Dogs and you get the change to walk through the spooky old Train Tunnels.

Lovely character home in a fantastic location!

Our family of six spent three nights in this gorgeous refurbished stone barn. The kids loved sleeping in a cosy little loft area, accessible by a ladder. We were in the area to hike around the Peak District, and this location was central to all of it. The village of Tideswell was itself an unexpected treasure. We walked the streets in the evening, taking in countryside views, browsing little local establishments, dropping by the pubs for local brews and great food, and spent quite a bit of time browsing the used bookstore just around the corner. We've been traveling all over Europe and the UK this summer, and this has been one of our favorite places!

lovely week in tideswell

tideswell is a lovely little historic town, and is a good base from which to explore. the cottage is central, and cosy. we were lucky with the weather, and able to enjoy many local walks

Great accommodation in a lovely place

Superbly equipped barn, very handy for all that Tideswell has to offer. We travelled with a dog and it was an ideal area to visit with great walks and dog friendly pubs.

Lovely weekend

Stayed for a long weekend in this lovely cottage. The town has everything you could need….although the bakery was extremely expensive! The hosts were lovely, and gave us great ideas for walks. Parking is a little tricky….be careful going in and out of the parking space! The cottage is well equipped and warm. We would really recommend it!

Perfect holiday rental for our family. Comfortable, cosy and well equipped. The two small single beds on the mezzanine were perfect for our kids aged 6&9. Very good communication with owner. I would highly recommend for families.

Cute & quirky cottage in a lovely village

The cottage is fairly small but perfectly formed and cozy. The bedroom is lovely and spacious with a beautiful skylight window for star or rain gazing. The heating was very efficient along with the log burner. Note that the mezzanine floor is above the kitchen and doesn’t offer much floor space for storing things so best to pack light or store bags under the beds. The village is a really lovely location with lots of gentle nearby walks, and plenty of options for more challenging routes a short drive away. We enjoyed a peaceful and quiet new year here.

We came back!

This was our second stay here. Last time we stayed for a long weekend, this time we came for a week - do you need further recommendation? The property was as welcoming, cosy and lovely as we remembered it to be. The surrounding countryside even more stunning in late summer sunshine.
