The Space:
Bush's Serenity by the Sea by Tiny Away is a distinctive Bolwarra cabin getaway 10 minutes from Portland’s seaside charm. Cozy up among blue gums and manna gums, the property offers grassy expanses, fruit trees ripe for picking, and spaces for gathering. A wellness studio, fire pits, and a playful kids’ area add to the experience.
Explore nearby landmarks like Cape Nelson Lighthouse, Cape Bridgewater, and the Petrified Forest, the Great South West Walk (GSWW), all just a short drive away.
A comfortable, 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers).
Guest Access:
We offer outdoor BBQ grill and fire pit areas–just note they're off-limits during total fire bans.
Guests can access the tiny home and its surrounding area. Restricted spaces include the big blue shed, the wellness studio (available only for booked clients), and the Olive shed, which is lived in by our son.
Our private residence is off-limits as we value our privacy. The rest of the property is open for exploration, and taking a left or right at the end of the driveway offers enjoyable morning or afternoon walks.

Discover Victoria’s stunning coastline—from the panoramic views at Cape Nelson Lighthouse to the wild beauty of Cape Bridgewater. Wander through the mysterious Petrified Forest, relax at the sun-kissed Nuns Beach, explore the dramatic Crags in Yambuk, and admire the golden cliffs of Yellow Rock Coastal Park.
Getting Around:
By Car:
- From Melbourne Airport: Approximately 5.5 hours (400 km).
- From Warrnambool: Around 1 hour and 10 minutes (96 km).
- From Hamilton: About 50 minutes (90 km).
- From Mount Gambier: Approximately 1 hour and 12 minutes (110 km).
- Numerous small towns can be found along the way, offering stops for food and fuel.
By Public Transport:
- Train and Bus: Take a train from Melbourne to Warrnambool, then transfer to the Mount Gambier bus line. The bus stops at the Henty Street Station in Portland. From there, a taxi ride to the property costs $20–$30.
Nearest Towns:
- Portland (6 km): Turn left from Nepean Road.
- Heywood (20 minutes): Turn right from Nepean Road.
- Warrnambool (1 hour 10 minutes): Turn left from Nepean Road, then left again at the first intersection.
By Flight:
- The nearest airport is Mount Gambier Regional Airport, located 110 km away (1.2 hours by car). From the airport, you can rent a car or arrange local transport to reach the property.
Other Things to Note:
- Wifi is available
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- No smoking inside the tiny house, except outdoors
- The paddock has some uneven terrain, so care should be taken while walking
- Mobile reception has weak signals for Telstra and Optus; No signals for other lines
- Be aware of potential noise from the nearby highway and visits from a friendly pet cat
- Recycling is encouraged using the provided orange crate, and a composting bucket is available for food scraps
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present in the surrounding areas
- Sticks on the property are great for starting a fire in the provided fire pit. However, due to the property's location under trees, large fires are not permitted
- For stays of 5 nights or more (or for bookings of 5 nights or more), an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
