„This is not a luxury house. Cheap second hand uncomfortable furniture, a smelly oven that may not have been cleaned for years (if ever???) and crockery that we needed to wash before we used it. We are not fussy people, but clean and comfortable should be a bare minimum.... Worst of all though was a chirping smoke alarm on the first floor landing, indicating a dead battery. On closer inspection, there wasn't even a battery fitted!! I offered to replace it if the owner couldn't arrange it for ...

"Mitten in Harrogate, direkt gegenüber von Bettys Tea Rooms — die Lage ist kaum zu toppen. Das viktorianische Gebäude hat echten Charakter, die Bar lädt zum Verweilen ein, und die Zimmer sind wirklich schön. Dass wir beim Check-in noch ein kostenloses Upgrade bekommen haben, hat den Aufenthalt perfekt abgerundet. Sehr gerne wieder!"

"I expect more from a 4 star hotel. The room was lovely and spacious however confetti which was all over the grounds was also in our room. There are 3 lifts one is staff only, one is out of order which according to a frequent guest has been the case for 2 years!! Then they serviced the 3rd lift, leaving my 84 year old parents to negotiate very old wonky stairs, not ideal! We ate in the bar one night because i have my dog with me and the area seemed dated and unloved. The food was nice if served in a lack luster way. Again with breakfast the food was great but I can't imagine sitting in the bar to eat, the buffet is so far away my food would have been cold before I got to the table!! So we took it in turn to eat so one of us could stay with the dog. There is a small area to the left as you enter which could be used as a dog friendly area.... well away from the buffet, I see that often in other restaurants and hotels! The spa area was very pleasant and a welcome break to relax on our long journey. Also the location and grounds were lovely, sitting on the terrace in the early morning sun and quiet was also a highlight. In summary dated and unloved but a perfectly quiet and relaxing break from a long journey."
