Built with crooked windows, whimsical details, natural wood and imagination, this cozy hideaway feels like another world. WELCOME TO THE CROOKED CABIN

Tucked into the wooded hills of Eastern Kentucky near the Red River Gorge, The Crooked Cabin is a tiny fairytale escape created for slowing down, reconnecting and disappearing into another world for a while.

Built with crooked windows, natural wood, handmade details and plenty of imagination, the cabin feels as though it grew right out of the forest.

According to the story, we can’t take all the credit for building it.

GhondlePop and his wife, Doris MossBottom, emerged from their little home inside an old hollow tree stump near the spring and decided we clearly needed some help. You’ll discover more of their story—and perhaps signs that they’re still nearby—during your stay.

A PRIVATE WOODLAND ESCAPE

The Crooked Cabin sits in its own private pocket of 25 wooded acres filled with creeks, ponds and quiet places to explore.

There are two other cabins elsewhere on the property, but they aren’t visible from The Crooked Cabin. This isn’t a resort or campground with cabins lined up beside one another. From your cabin, it feels like the woods belong entirely to you.

Spend the morning drinking coffee beneath the trees. Wander along the creek beds, visit the ponds, follow a path through the woods or find a quiet corner where doing absolutely nothing feels like the perfect plan.

The cabin sleeps up to four guests, but it is especially suited for couples looking for a romantic, peaceful and delightfully unusual escape.

INSIDE THE CABIN

Small, cozy and full of character, The Crooked Cabin is a true tiny-cabin experience.

The downstairs sleeping area has a queen-size memory-foam mattress. A second snug sleeping nook is tucked into the loft, where you’ll find a full-size memory-foam mattress.

The kitchenette features one of the cabin’s most unusual handmade details: distressed copper countertops with a rich, naturally aged patina. Their weathered colors and one-of-a-kind finish fit perfectly with the cabin’s crooked, timeworn fairytale character.

Inside, you’ll also find a private bathroom with shower, kitchenette, small refrigerator, air conditioning, Starlink Wi-Fi and the essentials for a comfortable woodland stay.

There is intentionally no television.

If you’d like to stream something, bring a phone, tablet or laptop.

Or don’t.

Sometimes the best channel out here is the view through a crooked window.

THE WHIMSICAL BACK PATIO

Step outside onto a creek-stone patio surrounded by wildflowers, native plants and the sounds of the forest.

The cabin sits between two natural creeks. When the water is flowing, the gentle sound adds another layer of magic to an already peaceful setting.

It’s a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee, share an evening drink or sit quietly while the woods carry on around you.

WOOD-FIRED HOT TUB & CAMPFIRE NIGHTS

The Crooked Cabin has its own private wood-fired hot tub—an old-fashioned experience that invites you to slow down and participate in the ritual.

Fill the tub, build a fire in its stove and let the water gradually warm while you relax around the cabin. Firewood and fire-starting supplies are provided.

Once it’s ready, climb in and soak beneath the trees and stars.

Nearby, the private firepit is waiting for campfire conversations, s’mores, evening drinks and the kind of nights that seem to last a little longer in the woods.

EXPLORE THE RED RIVER GORGE

When you’re ready for adventure, the Red River Gorge and Daniel Boone National Forest are nearby.

The area is known for spectacular hiking, world-class rock climbing, natural arches and unforgettable scenery. You can also enjoy kayaking, fishing, zip lining, disc golf, ATV trails and even underground kayaking through a flooded limestone mine.

Spend the day climbing, hiking, paddling or exploring underground—then return to your crooked little cabin, build a fire and soak under the stars.

Or skip all of that and never leave the property.

CELEBRATING SOMETHING SPECIAL?

The privacy and fairytale setting make The Crooked Cabin a memorable place for anniversaries, birthdays, honeymoons, proposals or a spontaneous escape together.

Depending on scheduling and conditions, we may occasionally be able to arrange an old-fashioned horse-drawn, carriage-style hayride through the Kentucky countryside. This requires considerable advance notice, so please ask before your stay if you’re interested.

Small elopements or intimate ceremonies may also be possible with advance approval and an additional event fee. Please contact us before booking anything involving an event or ceremony.

The Crooked Cabin isn’t a polished resort pretending to be a cabin.

It is handmade, quirky and intentionally unusual—a place where wildflowers choose where they grow, frogs occasionally ignore personal boundaries and something may rustle through the leaves after dark.
