Great place to stay in Bayeux

My wife and I stayed 4 days with Marie. She was charming and helpful. Put an extra effort in to get breakfast requests fulfilled. The property and grounds are very nice. It is located about a 10 minute easy walk to central downtown, so you can easily access the main sites and restaurants of Bayeux on foot but be far enough out of the central zone to avoid traffic and noise. This was also helpful in getting out of town to visit surrounding D day sites and other villages . I would recommend staying here without hesitation.

Bayeux delight!

The grounds were beautiful and serene. The location is close to the center of town but was very peaceful. The house was quite charming with many antique features and just the right modern touches. Our host was wonderful, friendly, and very helpful. We will return!

Wonderful, Magical Accommodations!

We had a wonderful two night stay at MarieVioline's lovely home. We had a beautiful spacious apartment in a gorgeous setting! Our host was so accommodating, even letting us use their private quarters for a business meeting my husband had prior to checking into our apartment! Breakfast was scrumptious and everything was so fresh. MarieVioline asked us what we would like for breakfast and prepared a spread that was just out of a four star restaurant! Our location was within walking distance of Bayeux which made it very convenient. Dagda, the Irish Setter was so amusing to watch in the backyard! He was "guarding" the domain! We highly recommend these accommodations and if and when we return to Normandy this is where we will stay for sure! Thanks so much for the wonderful memories of our stay!

Lovely place but beware

We really enjoyed our visit but you need to be aware of the 5 pm checkin time (our oversight) and two flights of stairs to carry your baggage. Nice old mansion with large rooms and delightful hostess.

We were very pleased with our recent stay in Bayeux. Marie was most accommodating, including giving us step by step instructions on how to get to the location when we were arriving late the first night. The house is interesting and relaxing, and Bayeux is a small town that is fun to explore. We would definitely consider returning

Charming, gracious, private, quiet, a perfect place to stay!

We loved this place, with it's beautiful old gingko tree out front, its spacious guest suite, and its charming, friendly host. We were an easy walk into Bayeux and a short drive to the Normandy coast. Breakfast was delicious. Our suite included a comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, and a large sitting room. The location is quiet and private. Bayeux is a charming town, and seeing the amazing Bayeux Tapestry was a highlight of our trip to France. Don't miss the great galettes at Moulin de la Galette, by the river and right across from the museum. We loved every minute and would have liked to stay longer.

Charming, gorgeous, delightful host and great value!!

My husband and I are introverted city dwellers and never stay at bed and breakfast type lodging. However we were struck by the beauty of this listing and we could not resist. The photos were accurate. The apartment was very big with beautiful views out of every window. Very well appointed. Comfortable bed and pillows. It was very private. Very quiet and so lovely. Our host prepared a wonderful breakfast for us both mornings. The gardens were blooming. The walk to town was only a few blocks. We also walked to and from the train station easily. We found drivers at the station who had several options for driving us around Normandy and the beaches, etc. our host was a wonderful woman who offered the right amount of conversation. I highly recommend. Trés bien!!!!

Peaceful, Welcoming, Huge Flat

We had an absolutely delightful stay here. It was close to all the tourist sites. It was so quiet. The hostess was wonderful. I would look no further and stay here next time I went to Normandy.

The perfect lodging for visiting the D-Day sites

Bayeux is a medium sized city with easy access by car to all the D-Day sites. Our hostess was genial and spoke quite good English. The room is a full suite with a large living room with comfortable seating and HDTV. The breakfast we requested was typical French continental with fresh fruit, delicious croissants baquettes, and cafe au lait. There are a number of nice restaurants in the compact downtown area. A beautiful, ancient cathedral. All of the D-day sites are important but the most moving is the cemetary and its museum.

Perfect Stay in Bayeux

We were in Bayeux primarily to visit the sites of the D-Day invasion of Europe and spent 2 nights at Le Grand Arbre The property truly lives up to it's claim - -it was indeed charming and also extremely comfortable & clean - -our upstairs suite was very spacious - -it felt rustic and but also had just the right touch when it came to modern amenities such as the bathroom and shower - -we also slept extremely well in a great bed. The continental breakfast that was laid out for us was an absolutely perfect example of "le petit dejuener" It was the genuine warmth, hospitality and affection of our host(ess) - -Marie Violaine - -that was perhaps the best part of our experience. She is an outstanding individual who is obviously doing all possible to ensure her guests will have nothing but a totally positive experience. Anyone who is lucky enough to visit Bayeux and stay at Le Grande Arbre will not be disappointed.
