Walking:

For day-to-day CBD life, walking is probably the easiest option. Swanson Street is centrally located, so many attractions, restaurants, cafés, shopping areas and waterfront destinations are within walking distance.



Buses:

Auckland's CBD has a very good bus network. The CityLink is particularly useful for moving around the central city. It runs between Wynyard Quarter, Queen Street and Karangahape Road, with frequent services. The CityLink operates approximately every 7–8 minutes on weekdays and every 10 minutes on weekends/public holidays. Auckland Transport

The InnerLink is also very useful for a couple wanting to explore places such as:

- Viaduct Harbour

It generally operates every 10–15 minutes on weekdays and about every 15 minutes on weekends/public holidays.



Trains — particularly useful from 2026

This is a major advantage now that Auckland's City Rail Link is operating. The new network opened in September 2026, adding Te Waihorotiu and Karanga-a-Hape stations and improving connections through the CBD. Auckland Transport

From the CBD, trains can connect the couple to areas including:

- Grafton

- Parnell

- Henderson

- New Lynn

- Swanson

- Manukau

- Ōtāhuhu
