Sadly, my stay at Albury Cottages was disappointing. When I arrived at dusk, it was not clear where reception was - the owner was not expecting me and was quite flustered that I did arrive and told me she had no-one booked that night, despite my electronic confirmation. Despite the chaos, she is a very charming elderly lady, so it was hard to be too assertive and have too many expectations. In the dark we tried to open several of the cottages from the bunch of keys she had, but no luck doing that! We found one room that had been left open (hurray!) but that was because previous guests had left and it was not made up for any new guests. With some difficulty, the owner had to find new sheets/towels etc (not easy, as she is quite unsteady on her legs). The place is superficially pleasant, but needs a good (professional) clean and I'm sure some outside help for the owner. It would appear that running the business and keeping the cottages clean and ready for incoming visitors is too big a task for her. It would have been wonderful in its day, but now too big a task for her. Her booking system - she uses a paper system that doesn't seem to be connected with any electronic system - is best described as random. I'm very sorry to have to give such negative feedback, but the photographs for this place, while alluring, are misleading.
