If you are going to Big Bear for a quiet getaway, this isn't necessarily the right cabin. It's right on the main road, so we heard trucks and cars all day long. It got quieter at night. We tried for 45 minutes to call the rental company (this isn't rented by a person, they're a corporate real estate company) and it was impossible to get them on the phone. 45 + min wait time. The next day, we were texted by the office after I texted them, but there communication was still very inconsistent. I asked repeatedly to have a manager call us due to more than one issue we had with the unit, but we kept being told there manager was too busy. I also had called two days before our stay, asking how they were cleaning the beds, pillows and mattresses to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and they had no answers for me. So, I requested that they leave the beds stripped and put the pillows and blankets away, and lysol spray the mattress. When we went to the checkin office, they said "oh we only got that note 5 minutes ago sorry" and they tried to reassure us but they had no details about how the beds were actually cleaned. We brought our own pillows and bedding, but I still had to strip the beds and lysol the mattress myself.
The floors were swept, but NOT MOPPED because our feet kept getting black from the dirty floors. OVERALL the place was cute and clean, (aside from the floors) but upon entering the unit we got WHACKED with the smell of cinnamon and fake public bathroom berry. I, like many women, am highly allergic to candles/ air fresheners. There were a total of 6 and it took me a while to find the one stuck behind the TV after I got whacked with a migraine. Luckily we brought fans to air the place out because the ceiling fans did not circulate the air enough.
It was consistently 10 degrees hotter inside than outside, no matter the time of day, so we placed the fans in front of the screen door to get the air circulating. Given that the area is pretty cool at night, it wasn't awful, but just good to note that you should bring your own fans.
The grill worked, plenty of storage in the fridge, and the cabin itself was super cute. It's tiny, but it serves its purpose. Be careful in the shower if you're tall. I hit my head.
Vacasa ended up refunding a small booking fee, but I still don't think their communication is anywhere near what it needs to be for a company. If there had been an emergency, there's no way we could've gotten someone on the phone.
