We did not enjoy our stay, it was a terrifying experience for our kids. The first hiccup that we encountered was that there was no swimming pool as mentioned on the “amenity” section of the listing. Now, I had 3 disappointed little ones.
We got to the property a little after midnight after driving for 6 hours with 3 kids. By this time, we were all so tired and just ready to go to sleep. But that didn’t go as planned because the moment we opened the doors and turned on the lights, we were greeted by a bunch of flying cockroaches and the apartment was as hot as hell. The AC units were turned off. I understand that people might want to conserve energy/electricity but they knew that guest were supposed to be checking in that day by 4 pm and they couldn’t even turn on the AC for at least 2 hours prior to the check in time to let the apartment cool down to a decent temperature? I mean, this is Texas where the daily outside temps are in the 100’s but the temperature inside the apartment was hotter than the temp outside.
Even after turning on the tiny window ac units, we didn’t feel like it was helping. It would take a couple of hours to get the apartment cool down enough where it can be live-able. I texted the manger and called VRBO to let them know of the situation and that there was no way I was going to let my family sleep in those conditions. My kids were screaming at the top of their lungs because they were scared of the roaches and we were all drenched in sweat.
