Fantastic friendly service, characterful property and a pleasant change from a chain hotel. Not right in the centre but only a very safe 6-8min walk from Minster, shops, restaurants etc…
Breakfast was outstanding and good value at £16 for juice, coffee, pastry, yogurt and fruit and Eggs Benedict. Full English a bit more, lighter options from £11. Quite a lot of parking outside at £15 a night (good for York) but it’s very tight & I’d advise contacting them to reserve a place. I got the last one right at the back and it was a real squeeze.
Only negative for me was my twin room (124) had a skylight but no pole to close the blind. Hence my room was flooded with light from 5am. Reception were apologetic when I mentioned it.

We are Diamond IHG members and stay at a lot of 4-5⭐️ hotels. For the price of the room it was so crammed very disappointing especially seeing we paid for an upgraded king suite. Beautiful bathroom…..watch your toes…..in order to get to the sink you must watch you don’t catch your foot on the door that opens on to the vanity very dangerous
Front desk staff was not overly friendly upon check in…… just matter of fact like. Yet later in the evening and this morning staff was very hospitable. Dining room staff were amazing very good breakfast

Was cautious due to low trip advisor but was ace
"Its a super old hotel but my word its spectacular in its architectural features , beatutiful paintwork throughout , stunning restaurant for dinner and breakfast looks out to sea , amazing , lovely bar area lounge , rooms are standard you can get sea view rooms but ours where just stdndard i slept ..."

Lovely place
"Lovely place to stay with great views. Hotel is currently being updated. This is the 3rd time we have stayed there. Staff are very friendly and helpful and its dog friendly. We were upgraded to a see view. Room good size."
